Background:
When we developed ArtMailMilwaukee.com, the thought of having conventional banner ads on the site made all of us cringe. Intrusive banner ads simply wouldn’t fit with the aesthetics of the site and are often ignored by visitors. Our business model was advertising supported, so we had to develop a new method of connecting visitors with ads without disrupting the site experience.

We decided to take a different approach. . . a fresh approach that engages the site visitor’s curiosity.

Reinventing the Visitor Engagement:
Our new solution would rely solely on the site visitor’s curiosity. A unique or clever image (like those at the bottom of this page) would be used to lure inquisitive site visitors to click. Each image incorporates a little “what the heck is this” to it encouraging people to click out of pure curiosity. Clicking takes you to the sponsor’s full page ad which delivers greater impact than a small banner. We liken the experience to discovering the prize at the bottom of a box of Cracker Jacks.

CurioMarks:
Our playful little curiosity-generating images became what we now call a CurioMark™. Our built in tracking software counts clicks, so sponsors only pay for people who have viewed their full page ad thereby providing a better system than traditional “impressions” ads. We can also track when people click from the landing page ad to their site or a shopping cart.

Conclusion:
Curiomarks engage and stimulate your visitor's curiosity.
Curiomarks lead to large full page ads that communicate more information than small banner ads.
Curiomarks have a built in tracking system that only counts real hits, not impressions.
Curiomarks are a fresh, fun and affordable marketing approach that can produce better results.
